Water-swellable hydrophilic strip for construction joints, expanding on contact with water to seal the joint without mechanical compression.
A hydrophilic swelling strip is a rubber-based profile containing a water-reactive resin. When groundwater reaches the joint, the strip expands by up to 200 % of its dry volume, pressing into the surrounding concrete and forming a self-healing seal.
Unlike compression seals, the strip does not rely on permanent mechanical pressure. Its swelling action develops pressure against the concrete face, filling voids and hairline cracks created by shrinkage. This allows several dry/wet cycles without loss of sealing performance.
