Factory-supervised installation of bridge expansion joints including setting, welding, anchorage concreting and final inspection.
Installation covers joint setting to the temperature-correct gap, alignment to the road profile, welding or bolting of anchorage, and concreting of the block-out with a material compatible with the deck. Supervision by the supplier prevents the setting errors that cause premature failure.
The joint gap must be set for the deck temperature at installation using the manufacturer setting chart; an incorrect gap over-stresses the gland in summer or opens it beyond capacity in winter. Equally, the anchorage concrete must reach the specified strength before the joint is opened to traffic.
